Spain

Two of my favorite European countries to travel to are Spain and Portugal. Both locations feature beautifully maintained historical cities, several of which have been designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, as well as amazing (and diverse) dining options and expansive beaches. Of course, there are differences between the two nations as well. Don't assume that everyone in Portugal speaks Spanish, for instance. That would be a serious rookie error. Due to their close vicinity, many tourists want to combine trips to Portugal and Spain. Since you have a limited amount of time, I don't blame you for wanting to plan a trip that gives you a taste of both nations. Remember that seeing everything in Spain and Portugal will take nine days, and even then you won't see it all.
